Story #12 - Pretzel Bowl
/Story #12 is about how the Reading, PA Pretzel Bowl came to be.
A local favorite event for Berks County residents is the Pretzel Bowl! The Pretzel Bowl is held annually at the Gene L. Shirk Stadium at Albright College. The Albright College football team plays a game each year for this special event to raise money for the many children treated in "Shriner's Hospitals for Children"
In 1950, Walter Spotts, co-founder of SSM, started the Pretzel Bowl Game during his tenure as Potentate of the Rajah Shrine Temple. Just as it was originated, the Pretzel Bowl continues to be a fundraiser for the Shriners hospitals for Children.
Perhaps the best feat, the Pretzel Bowl has continued for more than 70 years!
