Coplay-Whitehall Sewer Authority

SSM has served the Authority since 1988. The Authority serves approximately 13,500 customers in Whitehall Township and the Borough of Coplay which are highly urbanized areas just to the north of the City of Allentown. Collection system includes nearly 120 miles of mains and interceptors and one regional pumping station.

SSM duties include general consulting and operations assistance; design and construction management of sewage collection system, pumping station, and interceptor replacement projects.  Also design and manage I/I repair projects. 

SSM provided  construction phase services for the $10,000,000 project to replace approximately 23,000 ft. of deteriorated interceptor pipe with new 12”, 18”, and 24” ductile iron interceptor.  SSM secured all required regulatory approvals including PA DEP Act 537 Planning and Part II Permits, PennDOT approvals, and regulatory approvals to perform 9 individual stream crossings and multiple borings beneath state highways.  Prepared funding applications to assist the Authority in obtaining a $10,000,000 PennVest loan for the project.  Project will be completed under budget and without a single change order request from the Contractor.
